This is absolutely terrible! Well, just frustrating for the most part. My computer got seriously screwed up and I have no idea. I'm running it on safemode in a wifi area but.... I NEED YOUR HELP!

Since I (probably) won't be able to get on from this computer again, I'll post as much info as possible and hope that you can solve it...

So my computer was working fine... I put it on hibernate after we talked, and then turned it on only to get a "barcode" effect on my screen and it didn't respond. Now, if I run it normally, I get it loaded a bit and it says IRQL_not_less_or_ equal or something to that effect. Type that in on google and it should give you all of the details.

I'm not super with computers, but I've gone through almost every windows program trying to get it to work. System restore, you name it, I've most likely done it. I think I've traced the problem to Symantic Endpoint Protection... The problem is, when I try to uninstall it, it says that the windows installer could not be accessed.

So I went to Microsoft to download a new installer... I download the file, open it, and guess what it says? You can not run this program in safe mode. But i can't get OUT of safe mode without my (now least) favorite color popping up on my screen. So....... I'm at a loss.

I hope you'll be able to help me, and I'll check back here whenever I can... I might be able to get on sometime tommorow morning...

Oh and don't expect me on VL, the graphics card is messed up... So if you are on the same time as me, if we could use the main chat on this website that would be great...

Hope to see you soon Very Happy for my sanities sake Sad

Semi-Good news Luke, I have traced the malfunction to Symantec, but I still can't use windows installer or get it to fix itself................

It's not Symantec, its the IRQL Graphics driver problem.

You are probably running NVidia drivers, right? If so, uninstall the drivers and boot back up. Then go to their site to re-download the drivers. Make sure theyre 64-bit capable as well, if this is your x64 computer..

If you have a specific type of hardware attached, like a Joystick, or some sort of external trackpad, take that out. Gaming hardware can screw up IRQL.

If you overclocked either your CPU, or your Graphics card, go into SAFE mode and underclock to the normal settings.

If your graphics card uses shared memory, which I think yours does, then boot up your computer with only ONE memory card - this will reset the BIOS's stored memory mapping information. See what that does, then the next reboot, you can stick the memory back in.

This is all I can think of, lemme know if any light gets shed on the error.

Could you just give me a short checklist to do? Oh and PLEASE make it easy:)

I'm bad with this sort of thing...

Ummm that's as short as I can make it XD

Let's start with one thing: Unplug any gaming hardware you have, like a joystick or whatever.

Then: Boot into Safe Mode - Uninstall anything relating to NVidia (Control Panel -> Uninstall Programs)

After: Right-click on My Computer and click Manage - in the LEFT pane, there's a bunch of stuff. Click DEVICE MANAGER.

This device manager shows all the hardware on your computer. Click the + sign next to Display Adapters... Tell me what's in it.

Read the chatbox archives - I have no clue why your computer is doing this, but I'll keep looking.
